About Allan Schachter
Allan Schachter has been with Cansew Inc. for over 30 years. As Vice President of the Canada-based threads and trim supplier, he manages the Quebec and Maritimes sales team from its Montreal headquarters. The company maintains four other locations in Canada, in the cities of Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary, and Vancouver. Allan Schachter also manages export sales for international orders.
Established in 1924 as The Canadian Sewing Supply, Cansew sells a wide variety of products, including high-quality sewing threads and needles, Madeira embroidery products, elastics, zippers and Velcro fasteners, cleaning, adhesive, and lubricating products, and design room supplies.
Allan Schachter is highly involved in Cansew’s Special Operations Group, which sells fire-retardant (FR) sewing and embroidery threads for use in the military and emergency response fields. Cansew’s FR products meet the standards of the Canadian General Standards Board (CAN/CGSB); the international nonprofit National Fire Protection Association (NFPA); and UL, the international safety science company. In addition, they comply with U.S. military, commercial, and federal specifications.
Allan Schachter holds membership in the Canadian Professional Sales Association.
He actively supports several charities, including the Canadian National Institute for the Blind and the Montreal Children’s Hospital.
